E Cigarette Consumer Advocacy —The CAASA
With all the misleading press about the industry, you may be curious if there is an e cigarette consumer advocacy group. There is — The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association, or CAASA for short. It is a non-profit organization founded by ex-smokers and medical professionals to protect the rights of people in the US who use non-smoking nicotine products. CAASA's Relationship to the E-Cigarette
Their overall mission is not specifically focused on e-cigarette use; it is more inclusive and includes all non-smoking means of nicotine consumption. However, considering the intensity of the opposition to vaping that certain agencies and politicians have, it has certainly taken a lion's share CAASA's focus. There may soon come a day where vapers will be treated just like smokers, but the CAASA is fighting that possibility tooth and nail.
Who Starts E-Cig Vaping the Most?
The greatest appeal of e-cig use is not as a “gateway drug” to smoking. In fact, it's mostly the opposite. Many smokers are tired of having to go outside to smoke. They lose their place in line at government agencies, have to leave their table at restaurants and bars and other inconveniences to feed their nicotine craving. They may be tired of smelling like an ashtray.
So many benefits of vaping would effectively be nullified, and this could cause ex-smokers to relapse, since they “might as well” keep smoking. Vaping is a godsend to people who want to quit smoking. Of course, there are plenty of other alternatives to smoking. The problem is that they do not satisfy every facet of the smoking habit like an e cigarette does.
CAASA, aside from being a consumer rights watchdog, also provides unbiased news and scientific findings about the relative safety of vaping versus smoking. If you do not want to hang out with the smokers in order to vape, keep up with CAASA.
